Charlie Don't Surf "Find the Weapons Cache"

This is the tale of the fires Campaign at Living Hope Alliance.  A campaign is a series of games where the actions in one game will adversely affect the actions in future battles.  Over the next 12 months we would play 5 Charlie Don't Surf games where 3 American Players would simulate a 1 year tour of duty in 'Nam.  Could they keep their Soldiers alive or would they get them killed.  Aidan was our VC player whose sole job was to kill as many Americans as he could.  This is the first story in this campaign...

The Scenario centered on this village in the middle of the jungle.  The Americans were briefed that this village contained supplies of ammunition the VC were using.  So the American CO, James developed a plan.  From the the East on foot he would lead 2 platoons to take the eastern side of the village while at the  same time He sent Spencer platoon by Helicopter to land to the West and leave the LZ to take the village Houses on the west.  Aidan VC were in hidden deployment.  They would not be seen until spotted by the Americans.

No Plan Survives first contact.  While Kenny and James Platoon are advancing normally and on schedule. Spencer's Platoon can't leave the LZ.  They are stuck the first few turns which is endangering the whole operation.  Aidan takes advantage and begins to open fire on the stalled landing pinning Spencer's first squad in the open.  Meanwhile on the Eastern Flank, Aidan pinned James Platoon in a bloody battle in the southern woods.  Only Kenny had clear access to the village.

As the game was closing to an end.  James Platoon took so many heavy casualties it was made ineffective.  In an act of cinematic heroism, Kenny's 2nd LT charged into the village and was the only Americans to find any of the ammunition.  Spencer's Platoon finally got moving and clearing the VC out of the jungle with moderate casualties.  Aidan having succeeded in his plan began to evacuate his VC to with another day.  Aidan claimed a minor VC victory on this opening day of the campaign.

(As a note, all the miniatures for this game are 10mm miniatures from Pendraken.  I loved painting them.  The rule set we used was Charlie Don't Surf by TooFatLardies.)
