Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game Rules Review

 

Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game is designed and produced by Games Workshop.  Its core is to recreate J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth stories and fantasy realm in skirmish battle form.  The Miniatures are gorgeous, game is simple and easy but lets see how this fantasy game ranks...

My Reviews are going to be graded like classes in College; A,B,C,D,E.  At the end we will get a GPA which will determine if this game makes distinguished honor roll, honor roll, passes or fails.  A good game should at least pass with a C average. 

The categories I will be grading are 1) Presentation/Product/Package, 2) Game Rules/Mechanics, 3) Historical/fantasy Cannon Accuracy, 4) Cost/time, 5) Good Time and Memories

1)Presentation/Product/Package. What can I say This is a games workshop product.  The miniatures are amazing.  The Books are beautiful and the online resources are a plenty.  So many You Tube channels support this popular game.  Amazon always carries the miniatures for it and they paint so nicely.  This is the gold standard for table top games

2) Game Rules/Mechanics.  The game rules are simple.  Armor checks are simple and the game does a good job of the shoving matches in dark age combat.  Orcs behave like Orcs and Elves shoot with incredible accuracy.  More importantly the Heroes behave like epic heroes from the sagas of old.  No complaints

3) Fantasy Accuracy.  I am a huge Tolkien Nerd.  This game does a fantastic job of looking like the movie but sticking to the books.  I am so pleased with how the rules portray the cannon of Middle Earth

4) Cost/time.  Good part.  Time.  The games don't take long to prepare and they resolve in 90 minutes.  The only Bad part... Cost.  These are not cheap miniatures and it will cost 100s to put a game on.

5) Good Time and Memories.  The games are great and memorable.  The Heroes do incredible feats that you talk about for weeks later.

GPA is 3.60.  HONOR ROLL.  Great Game.  It is worth the price!
