Rules Review "Dungeons and Dragons"

D&D is a classic table top game that has been around for decades and yes we have to review it.  We have been playing a campaign now for about 2 years and it just keeps getting better and better.  Let's See what Wizards of the Coast have to offer for this classic game.

My Reviews are going to be graded like classes in College; A,B,C,D,E.  At the end we will get a GPA which will determine if this game makes distinguished honor roll, honor roll, passes or fails.  A good game should at least pass with a C average.

The categories I will be grading are 1) Presentation/Product/Package, 2) Game Rules/Mechanics,             3) Historical/fantasy Cannon Accuracy, 4) Cost/time, 5) Good Time and Memories

1). Product and Package.  D&D offers a variety of products to support their game from tomes upon tomes to build characters, monsters and worlds to custom dice, fully painted miniatures and even dungeon and castle layouts.  A beginner could start a game really quickly in a matter of minutes with the quality of the books and support material.

A

2) Game Rules/Mechanics. This is a strength and weakness for D&D, the rules work well but they can be convoluted and complicated and I find myself constantly going how does that work again and looking it up in the books.  Is that the Players handbook or the cauldron one or the guide to everything... I don't remember.  Easy to play at first but the further down the rabbit hole you go the more rules you need.

C+

3) Cannon Accuracy.  D&D is a customizable fantasy world so the lore is as deep or shallow as you want.  Our campaign just hit epic deepness because the dungeon master got his roll on.  But it is dependent on the dungeon master.

B+

4) Cost/time.  D&D can be costly the longer you play and the more intense you want your tables to look but for starters you just need the players book and the dungeon master needs the dungeon masters book.  Figures and scenery come later.  Time though.  It takes time before the game to create characters and backstories and even paint your miniatures.

B

5) Good times.  Umm Yes!!!!  Kenny's character getting dragged around by my dire wolf for a whole night or Aidan getting his head stuck to mimic.  The laughs are real and last for years.

A

The final GPA is....3.32 Which is great.  Never be afraid to try the tried but true D&D
