D&D Season 2 Entry 3
Matthew Snow began his recon mission with the Deposed Paladin, mystery Dragon born and a few soldiers. After disembarking on the banks of the sea 20 miles north of the wall our party saw the source of the earthquake. There was a giant dug up mound like an ant hill but much much larger. Whatever dug this was a large underground monster of unnatural origins. Before it could be investigated more, a teenage dragon ambushed us with some of his orc followers. No one defending the wall has seen a dragon in a 1,000 years. They were legends if not mythical. But here was a red dragon in the flesh staring us down.
The combat was bloody, one of my elite scouts was badly injured in the fight, an elf who has served me and my father before me for decades. After killing the dragon and the orcs, I did not want to risk his life and had the party ride our horses at best speed back to the safety of the wall. One of the things I will say is that in the fight, the dragon caught sight of the dragon borne and called him traitor! That makes me trust the dragon borne even more.
Upon arrival, I learned that the female dragon borne had escaped her cell and ran further south. I was not pleased with this news and I ordered her recapture immeadiatly. I also sent word to my father seeking the advice of the wise ones. It is clear that our enemy is stronger than we feared with large mythical beasts long lost to historical memory. I am sure we will have to venture to the dwarves for help because a war is brewing and we are outnumbered and outgunned.....
